GEODES AND GEODE CRACKING
Recently a new exhibit, consisting of geodes found at
the Carillo Mine of Mexico, was installed. These geodes were all cracked
at the museum. They display the many minerals found in these specimens:
quartz crystals: clear, smoky, blue, or amethyst; calcite crystals; hematite
hairs; goethite; todorokite; mordenite; or ranceite. Geodes can be found
for sale in the Gift Shop area. They are
guaranteed to be hollow. Gift certificates are also available.
